- Use Mild Detergent: Opt for a mild detergent, as harsh chemicals can damage cotton fibers.
Drying:
- Tumble Dry Low or Hang Dry: Low heat is best if using a dryer, but for best results, hang drying will reduce shrinkage and help the garment keep its shape.
- Remove Promptly: To prevent wrinkles, remove from the dryer as soon as it’s dry. For hang drying, reshape while damp.
Ironing:
- Medium Heat Ironing: If ironing is needed, set the iron to a medium setting, and iron while the garment is still slightly damp for a smoother finish.
- Use a Pressing Cloth: For printed or decorated areas, place a cloth between the iron and the fabric to protect designs.
Avoid:
- Bleach: Avoid bleach unless the item is pure white.
- Dry Cleaning: Standard cotton fabrics generally don’t require dry cleaning; machine wash or hand wash is ideal.
